Delusion Score Calculator

Pick a goal and move the sliders. The calculator compares how sure you are with your progress, effort, time and feedback, then shows the gap.

How the calculator works

  1. Evidence combines progress (40%), weekly effort (25%), outside feedback (20%) and time invested (15%).
  2. Effort and time are scaled by how hard the goal is.
  3. Your score is the gap between confidence and evidence, adjusted for difficulty.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good delusion score?
Somewhere between 20 and 40 suggests healthy optimism: you believe a bit more than the evidence shows, which helps you keep going.
Is a high score bad?
It means your confidence is ahead of your evidence. That is a prompt to build a plan, not to give up.
How can I lower my score?
Raise the evidence. Add hours, ask someone experienced for blunt feedback, and track measurable progress each week.
