Dunning-Kruger Test

Eight general knowledge questions. After each answer, say how sure you are. At the end you see your accuracy, your confidence and the gap between them.

How the quiz works

  1. Pick an answer, then rate how sure you are.
  2. Accuracy is the share you got right; confidence is your average certainty.
  3. Your result is confidence minus accuracy, in points.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Dunning-Kruger effect?
A 1999 finding by Justin Kruger and David Dunning: people who performed worst on tests of logic, grammar and humour overestimated their performance the most.
Does a positive gap mean I am not smart?
No. It means your confidence ran ahead of your answers on this set of questions. Calibration is a skill you can practise.
Why trivia?
Trivia gives clear right or wrong answers, so it is easy to compare how sure you felt with how you did.
