This Privacy Policy explains how howdelusionalami.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit our website, take our quizzes or use our calculators.
The short version
- Your quiz answers and calculator inputs stay in your browser. We do not receive, store or sell them.
- We show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies to show and measure ads.
- We may use analytics to understand which pages are popular.
- If you contact us, we use your email only to reply.
Information we collect
Quizzes and calculators
All quizzes and calculators, including the Delusion Calculator, run entirely in your web browser. The answers, filters and numbers you enter are not sent to our servers and are not stored by us. When you use “Share” or “Save image”, the result is created on your device and only shared where you choose to share it.
Information you give us
If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address and message so we can reply. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email and comment you submit, plus your IP address and browser details to help prevent spam.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and service providers automatically record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring page and the date and time of your visit. This is used to keep the site secure, fix problems and understand how the site is used.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential storage: we save your dark or light mode choice in your browser’s local storage. This never leaves your device.
- Advertising cookies: set by Google and its partners to show ads (see below).
- Analytics cookies: if enabled, set by Google Analytics to measure visits.
- Security and performance: our hosting and Cloudflare may set cookies to protect the site from attacks and to load pages faster.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, or opt out of many third-party vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. Learn more about how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, through a Google-certified consent message.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how long visits last. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
- To run, maintain and improve the website
- To reply to messages you send us
- To show ads that keep the site free
- To protect the site against spam, fraud and abuse
- To meet legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We share limited information with trusted providers who help us run the site, including our web host, Cloudflare (security and speed), Google (advertising and analytics) and our email provider. These providers may process data in countries outside your own, under their own privacy policies and appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep information
Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to reply and for a reasonable period afterwards. Comments are kept until they are removed. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, object to or restrict how it is used, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority.
EU, UK and EEA visitors (GDPR): we process data on the basis of your consent (advertising and analytics cookies), our legitimate interests (running and securing the site) and to reply to requests you make.
California visitors (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out of personalised ads using the links in the Advertising section above.
To make a request, email us at the address below.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU and UK). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
Our articles may link to other websites, such as research sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.
